warm -saves me a layer
By: Unkl Dave from Terre Haute, IN, USA
How is the quality? Does it have every feature you need?
time will tell, but, in my 1st few uses this jacket exceeds my requirements and expectations. I have several items of Natgear and they wear very well. This jacket is made with the same quality and takes the wear and tear of waterfowl hunting with no hiccups.
What do you like or dislike about the features?
Winterceptor fleece is warmer than I expected and allows me to reduce 1 layer of clothing, from 4 to 3. This means greater freedom of movement without sacrifing comfort. I 1st used this hunting 2 days when it was mid 20s at o'dark 30. After the hike in and set up, I sat in cover for 30 min before shooting time, 1 hr before the sun came up and I was warm and toasty. I could have taken a nap, but, fortunately, we had some early action.
This jacket looks great, so I can wear it all winter when when I run errands, train Gunner, my lab, or just to garb a bite to eat.
Do you think this item is a good value?
Before this jacket I wore a patagonia 1/4 zip fleece pullover for my 2nd layer. The Natgear jacket and the Patagonia are the same price and the jacket is warmer
Besides the jacket, I have Natgear 4x4 hunting jacket, waders (2nd pair)and uninsulated bibs and each one has worn well. I'm sold on Natgear quality.
Which flyway do you hunt in?
Central, We hunt along the Wabash River from Terre Haute to Vincennes. We used to hunt Minnehaha FWA, now we go to Goose Pond FWA.
Please give your general opinion of this product.
Looks good, wears great and when I need to layer up to stay warm, this jacket saves me bulk so I can wheel around and get a shot on that duck coming in over my shoulder. Both of my nephews have had this jacket for 3-4 yrs and I always wondered why they didn't wear more layers on those really frigid hunts, Now I know!
