The Kel-Tec PMR-30 22 Magnum Pistol has brought the idea of a rifle cartridge shooting pistol to the next level. Kel-Tec managed to chamber a pistol in 22 Magnum without making it a colossal hunk of metal. This pistol can hold 30 rounds in its magazine, which is much more than enough for any hunting you might be doing. A newly designed hybrid blowback and locked breech system allows a user to effectively shoot a variety of ammunition. The gun will automatically change between blowback and locked breech systems based on the pressure of the cartridge when fired. The 30 round magazine is double stacked and fits inside of the grip of the pistol without protrusion. A crisp trigger pull is single action, but there is a thumb safety that is available for ambidextrous use. Built in fiber optic sights help for making longer and more accurate shots while hunting or at the range.
Duribility of construction is one aspect Kel-Tec expresses pride in. Lightweight durability is required in order to have a pistol chambered in this long of a bullet. The barrel and slide are constructed of 4140 steel, while the frame is made of 7075 aluminum to keep it lightweight. Like most other Kel-Tec pistols, the remaining parts, for example the grip, mag release and trigger, are made of nylon reinfoced by glass. The nylon material used is names Zytel, and it is also used in making the 30 round magazines with bullet count holes.
