The D2 tool steel holds an outstanding edge and the unique rounded point design is simply unsurpassed for effective skinning and fleshing. The ultra sharp ATS-34 steel Jaeger Boning knife is hand-honed and is designed to bone out large animals such as deer and elk with ease.
Knives of Alaska is famous for their combo sets. There weren't many available until Knives of Alaska came along, but every hunter knows that two knives are better than one; and you might need even more if you have a big job ahead of you. Knives are tools, and the right tool makes the job go faster. Knives of Alaska has paired many of their knives with the very useful caping knife or the handy little fleshing tool. Most of these sets also come with a small, two-grit diamond sharpening steel. Everything you need at your fingertips!
Most Knives of Alaska products are fixed blade knives. This means the blade does not fold, like a pocket knife, but is kept in a sheath. Some other companies make fixed blade knives with a peg that fits into the handle, but Knives of Alaska fixed blade knives are full tang - the knife steel is part of the entire handle. This makes a knife much stronger and more dependable, and that's what Knives of Alaska is about!
Made as a premier Boning and Capping Knife, the Jaeger is just shy of 1/8 inch thick (.118"). The blades, treated with cryogenic (deep freeze) and double tempering process and at a rockwell hardness of 58-60, will hold an incredible edge. The non-slip ridges on the back of the blade will give you comfortable platform on which to place either your forefinger or thumb while using the knife. The blade is full tang and double riveted, with a brass lanyard sleeve so the handle scales are securely fastened to the blade. The Muskrat Skinning has a rounded point, sharpened to a razor edge completely around the back, has already proven itself to hunters as a tremendously effective skinning and fleshing knife. Includes a cowhide vegetable tanned holster secures both knives and supplied with a diamond sharpening steel (fine and medium grit) fitted into holster.
