When it comes to calling ducks and geese, I have found that there are very
few absolutes. Because of where I hunt most of the time, I tend to call pretty
aggressively even though a lot of successful hunters do just the opposite.
Every day is different so I keep an open mind about calling style, blind
and decoy sets and every other component of that hunt. If the way you’re
calling isn’t working, you have to be willing to change it up. Vary your pitch,
the speed of your cadence, call louder or softer. Try everything you can think
of including not calling at all, but keep on changing your style until you find
the one the birds like that day. If nothing seems to work, then you just
experienced one of those few absolutes which is there are only two places to
kill a duck: where they want to be or where they don’t mind goin’!
