Magpul BAD, Battery Assist Device, Lever For AR-15 M16 helps you release the bolt faster. The BAD lever attaches to the bolt catch and extends down below into the trigger guard area. This device is designed for combat where speed and efficiency are especially important. A bolt catch is designed to catch and hold the bolt back while you are reloading or inspecting your weapon. After inspection or reloading is completed you would need to reach to the back side of the rifle from the open action to release the bolt. Instead of these unnecessary steps occuring, it is much faster to just have a BAD lever to release the bolt with the finger that is already in or near the trigger guard. Another reason to have the BAD lever is if you have coupled magazines. Coupled magazines will block or nearly block the BAD lever and that in turn makes the bolt catch release hard to reach making it even longer before you are back in operational status.
