The Kershaw Piston Folding Knife has kickin style and top performance. In addition the Piston has good looks because both blade and handle is dramatically sculpted for a look you won't see in just any pocket knife. Even though the Piston is a larger pocket knife, it will not add too much weight because of the G-10 handle and Insert Liner Lock. G-10 is an epoxy filled woven glass fiber material that is extremely tough so there is no need to fully line the handle with steel plate for durability. This lightens the weight and thickness of the knife.
To ensure a secure lock up, the Piston uses Insert Liner Lock. A smaller steel plate, which functions like a locking liner is inserted in one side of the handle. When the knife is opened, the steel plate moves behind the blade, securely locking it in the open position.
The blade on the Piston is Sandvik 14C28N, a high performance stainless steel that is tough, corrosion resistant and hardened to 58-60 on the Rockwell Hardness Scale. This folding knife offers a quad carry option that has a lanyard attachment. Hummm....don't see a lanyard hole? Exactly - There is a hidden lanyard attachment int he interior of the handle so you do not loose that great chiseled look. Sleek and sassy!
Flipper - May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The flipper is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
SpeedSafe - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud or pull back on the flipper; built into many Kershaw best sellers.
Inset Liner Lock - A strip of stainless steel is riveted inside the knife’s handle; most commonly when the handle is a lightweight material. This enables us to create a slimmer, lighter knife, while still providing the strength and security of a locking liner.
Quad-Carry - The user may position the pocketclip for tip-up or tip-down, left- or right-handed carry.
