The G Loomis Carolina Rig Fishing Rod has been designed specifically to fish soft plastics using a ‘Carolina Rig’. These are fast-action fishing rods, made a little longer than normal to handle what can be a tricky rig to cast, as well as create more tip speed to extend your casting range and improve hook sets. The Carolina Rig rods are extremely sensitive, powerful and light.

The whole concept of the Carolina rod with this rig is to cover lots of area, keep the bait in constant contact with the bottom and catch those stubborn fish that for whatever reason, won’t eat a Texas-rigged bait.
The bait is attached to a leader 16 to 40 inches or more, behind an oversized weight to help keep the rig in constant contact with the bottom while the soft plastic follows along, dangling enticingly behind it. The weight creates noise and on softer bottoms, little bursts of mud that help attract bass. Then they see the bait coming along behind it and if you’re lucky or good or both, they’ll eat it.
